Manuscript types

The following types of manuscripts can be considered for peer-reviewed publication in Annales Geophysicae (ANGEO):

  • Regular papers report substantial new results and conclusions from scientific investigations of solar, near-Earth space, and atmospheric properties, as well as processes within the scope of the journal.
  • Review papers summarize the status of knowledge and outline future directions of research within the scope of the journal. Before preparing and submitting a review article, please contact an editor covering the relevant subject area as well as an executive editor. Depending on the subject and further characteristics, review articles are also eligible for inclusion in the Encyclopedia of Geosciences. If you are interested in this option, please see the author instructions and contact the editors of the encyclopedia.
  • ANGEO Communicates is a medium to promptly present new significant results. Manuscripts in this category are reviewed by only one independent referee. The article size is limited to four published pages.
  • Peer-reviewed comments (and replies) continue the discussion of published papers. They usually refer to papers published in Annales Geophysicae, but they may refer to papers published in other journals if satisfactory justification is given. They undergo the same process of peer review and publication as regular papers and review papers, but are reviewed by only one independent referee. The manuscript title should start with "Comment on" or "Reply to".
